The Holden Torana was a car produced by General Motors Holden (GMH), the Australian subsidiary of General Motors.
The name 'Torana' comes from an Aboriginal word meaning 'to fly'.
The Torana has its origins in the British Vauxhall Vivas of the mid 1960s.
The first Torana (HB) appeared in Australia in 1967 and the final model was phased out by 1980.
The Torana was also know as a Sunbird in the later years as that is what the 4 cylinder version were branded
With 6 and 8 cylinder models also available, all with the choice of an Auto or Manual Transmission.
Whilst it had its roots in the late 60s, the Torana was really was an icon of the 70s in Australia.
Especially on the racetrack, and many sales were a result of the "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" marketing method.
Between the Monaro and the Commodore, Holden's touring car racing pride rested with Torana, and it distinguished itself well,
